King Charles Could Attend Treaty 6 150th Anniversary in Saskatchewan
The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) & treaty 6 Signatory Chiefs have officially invited King Charles III to visit Saskatchewan in 2026 for the 150th anniversary of Treaty 6. The invitation recognizes the historic relationship established when leaders of Treaty 6 and ancestors of the British Crown signed the treaty in 1876.

FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron stressed the ongoing importance of treaties, noting they guarantee inherent and treaty rights and are upheld under international law. Cameron also noted past treaty rights have been eroded over time, but First Nations remain committed to affirming their rights. This time, the FSIN is planning well in advance and securing political support from the Assembly of First Nations and other groups to encourage the King’s attendance.
